Dust is a bio-thriller, written by Charles Pellegrino.
The 1st edition was published March 1, 1998. There are 379 pages in this printing.
I bought his book, many years ago, and started to read it.
It sucked me in from the start…. you might say, it devoured me….
If you like bio-thrillers, you are going to want to read this book.
When you open the book, don’t jump to the 1st chapter, “Paradise Regained”.
Begin with the prologue, “Satan’s Black Pool”, where you are taken back in time, to witness the beginning of a tragedy. You follow a pair of saurian dinosaurs, (mother and offspring), that wonder into trouble, big trouble.
Flash forward millions of years, into the 20th century. Here you meet a scientist, (Richard Sinclair, his wife, (Dawn), and their daughter, (Tam). What they don’t yet know, is that they are about to be in a lot of trouble, big trouble.
Something bad is on the scene, creeping, swarming, devouring everything that has flesh. The wife, ends up home, alone. The scientist and their daughter are together, away from home.
Can the wife be saved? Can the husband and daughter make it to a temporary, safe Lab, to allow Sinclair enough time, with other scientists, to stop the snowball effect that is suddenly, unexpectedly, taking down life on the planet.
At the Brookhaven Lab, Sinclair is working with others, to try and stops what might be the next mass extinction.
The goal of Richard Sinclair, “Save as much life as can be saved, on the planet”.
This is an edge of your seat read.

Good Reads, (which uses a 1 – 5 review range), gave this book a 3.84.
I think this book is very good. I bought it long ago, in paperback, and wanted to read it again, but couldn’t find it anywhere in my house. Might it be in a box, in a corner of my attic, covered in… dust?
I turned to Amazon to see if I could find a copy. I found one there being sold by “Clearance Book Sales”. It was a used hardbound, with the original jacket. It was said to be in very good condition. I bought it for $5.75, (shipping was free as it was on prime and I have an Amazon Prime membership).
The book is beautiful. It looks as if it had simply sat on someone’s shelf, untouched. When I opened the cover to the Printing details, I saw that they sent me a 1st Edition copy !!!! I don’t even want to read it now. It’s going into my book collection. I’ll have to buy another copy, (paperback), just so I can read it.
At the time of this writing, Amazon still has the book for sale. It can be purchased as a paperback, hardbound…. or as an audio-cassette, (I still have a device that plays cassettes, so no laughing)!

In the process of re-purchasing this book, I got a first edition. I was so excited when I saw this. As I was writing this post, it dawned on me that you might like to purchase a first edition book, but don’t know what identifies one as a first edition. I found another blogger (Rich Rennicks), who has written what he knows about “Identifying First Editions”.
